Brian Littrell - The Comedian According to Howie, Brian is definitely the group funnyman! "He keeps us laughing," says Howie. The funny thing is that Brian's first exposer to music and performing was anything but on the light side. Born February 20, 1975, he spent his early years in Lexington, KY, singing at his local church, other regional churches, revivals, and even weddings! What many don't know is that Brian feels he has a lot to thank God for. You see, as a young child he was very ill and didn't even know it. "I was born with a heart murmur," he told BOP! "I have a whole in my heart. I lived the first five years of my life with this whole in my heart and the doctors didn't even know it." It wasn't until a day back in 1980 when he was playing around with his older brother Harold, that his parents found out their little boy was seriously ill! The boys were roughhousing and Brian fell and cracked his head on a sidewalk. His parents took him right to the Good Samaritan Hospital - and then the complications set in. He got a blood infection. Brain explained, "I had no chance of living whatsoever. The doctors were telling my mother and father to go ahead and make funeral arrangements." But then the unexpected happened - even while the doctors were predicting the worst, Brian surprised everyone and recovered completely! "I had a great childhood," Brain said in an online interview. "Since I didn't become a Backstreet Boy until I was 18 I had time to graduate from high school. If I hadn't gone for music, I probably would have gone to college." When Brain got his cousin Kevin's call about the audition for the Backstreet Boys, he knew it was right. And when he met A.J., Howie, and Nick, he felt right at home. Being part of BSB gave him a chance to do something he wanted to do ever since he was 5. "I think that's why God gave me the gift to sing. Kevin Richardson - Farm Boy to Backstreet Boy! Kevin is definitely a country boy. Born on October 3, 1972, he spent the first nine years of his life on a ten-acre farm in Harrisburg, KY. And when his family left the farm, they moved into a real modern-day log cabin on the grounds of a summer camp/retreat. "My father managed the summer camp and retreat center. It was a church camp. I was fortunate to grow up there because I had tons of friends, because every summer the camp was full of kids my age, older kids, and younger. I met people from all over the state, and sometimes from all over the country as well." "I had a great childhood. I loved school, played Little League football, rode horses and dirt bikes, and sang into a hairbrush in front of my bedroom mirror." Kevin got his first set of keyboards when he was a high school freshman, and one of the first things he did was join the chorus and drama club. "When you're onstage, you can see all the people's reactions and that is the greatest feeling of all. That's why we're here. That's the natural high." | |||||||||||||||||||||||
